Digital Research Collections provides access to curated digital collections from the University of Glasgow’s Library collections, including rare books, archives and special collections. These collections are presented with descriptive and interpretive information to support understanding of the material’s content and historical significance.

Explore a growing range of primary source materials from the University of Glasgow's unique and distinctive collections, as well as resources to help discovery and interpretation. 

 

Our digitised collections are designed to support easy discovery and comparative analysis. With full transcription and text search, users can quickly search names and keywords across collection items. Enhanced metadata filters such as date, language, rights, subject, and content type make it easy to refine results and view collections in flexible ways.

Searchable transcriptions for all items have been generated using automated Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and/or Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) tools. While these tools improve discoverability and accessibility, they may contain errors or omissions. Users should consult the original digital images when verifying content or quoting. Information about the digitisation and any partnerships associated with individual collections is provided on the relevant collection pages where available.
